Bajra

Bajra, a millet, is the major food crop of Rajasthan. This millet can be exceptionally grown in the sandy soils under the rain-fed conditions and therefore, assumes immense importance in the arid regions of Rajasthan. This food grain crop is also grown in abundance in the arid tracts of Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka, Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh of India. Bajra is also grown in various parts of world in more or less quantity. Bajra has several uses – besides being a staple food, its fodder is a cherished feed of the mulch animals.
